Lots of fun but could be better

Ive always enjoyed the card game and have enjoyed playing this game for over a month now. I do wish the deck was not and endless deck and the computer players werent so ditzy. It makes it tough to play on express and they are " helping" the next player out by throwing out a card they need. I do enjoy the animation and graphics and hope the next update will accommodate the expressed opinions of us players!

computer cheats!

I was raised with Mille Bournes. My family played this game several time a week.So Im not a rookie at this! That being said, I have no problem losing....but not everytime!! Its one thing to lose now and then, but when I play just the computer,it wins every time, even though I had a vast lead, points,or safety cards. I would have given it five stars, but I really wonder if there is a glitch. Ive even had friends play, and the same thing happens! All of us cant lose every time.......However,the game does bring back great memories of playing with my family back in the 1970s. And my husband and I play with card version now.

You never win

It is impossible to win. You never get the cards you need. I sat at 0 miles for 20 min. and it took 2 hrs to finish a game!!!! Dont buy!!!!

Very close.........

I have waited a long time for this game to be available and on many levels it is impressive what the developers have done. I was a Palm Pilot user for many years and Rally 1000 was a great game for that platform. It played “truer” to the original and in terms of strategy and layout - really top notch. It might be worth the developer’s time to play that to see about the computer’s AI and card layout. The Good: I actually enjoy the animations. In games that move too quickly I tend to move too quickly. By physically having to move the cards you’re not just rapidly blasting through the game. It is a card game after all – something where the pace should be relaxed. The graphics (especially the cards) are fantastic. The cards are just like the original game. The ability of up to four players is great – and you can even use the same Ipod. It offers game play very close to the card game – almost close enough to over look it’s flaws. The Not so Great (I won’t say bad…) Whenever the computer gets a safety card it plays it right away. In the several games I have played they have never played a coup –fourre on me. Ideally the computer would wait until the last moment (generally when someone is within 200 km of the finish if they haven’t played two 200 km cards) to play the card – unless needed to remedy a hazard or for a coup-fourre. On the other hand the computer automatically plays my coup-fourres. If I miss an opportunity that’s my mistake – the player should have that burden. I don’t miss the lack of a traditional card table layout – but there should some on-screen notification of 200 km cards played. That’s really the only thing you need to see in terms of cards played (aside from keeping track of the discard pile which is there). Games should have the option of ending at 700km. Then the player should get the option of extending which is the way the card game plays. The scoring is not complete. There is no extension (see above), points for all 4 safeties played and as noted on another review, only the winner should get a safe trip if that person doesn’t play 200km cards. There also doesn’t seem to be a score for a delayed action (completing a trip after all cards have been drawn). I would like to see a number indicating how many cards are left in the draw pile. Other reviewers have indicated the deck is infinite – that’s not good. So there are some issues, but I must say it’s still a lot of fun to play. I hope the developers work to improve what is already a pretty good interpretation of the original.

Faithful to the original and cool

Ive been waiting for this app a very long time. I LOVE the fact that you have to drag the cards to where you want them to go. It makes accidental moves sometimes caused by the double tap method used elsewhere not happen. Ive NEVER wanted for an UNDO option here as I have in other card games because I havent made moves by accident. It took a very short time to get used to the interface, and I like the cards hidden until its my turn method of moving along the game play as well as clearly indicating when its my turn to act. Given the relatively complex game play, its very intuitive and I think a great balance between the traditional card table layout others have asked for and an intuitive interface that can be picked up by the inexperienced as well. The game play is just as frustrating and rewarding as it is to play in real life, with the exception that the AI isnt vindictive! Very well done, and THANK YOU for finally making this app available for this great game. The game doesnt cheat, I beat it most of the time. Its fun to win and fun to lose. I do wish more French made it in though!

Close To Card Game

This version of the classic Mille Bornes card game is fairly good. The graphics are cute. When the computer plays, it often does not use logical strategy. In many games, the computer has discarded a "Go" card it will need after choosing a remedy card when it did not have a "Go" card in its hand. Also, the computer always plays a safety card as soon as it draws it, instead of holding it for a chance at a coup-forre. I agree with other reviewers that the programming should stay true to the card game rules with the option of ending at 700 miles or extending to 1000 miles. As for the reviewers who say it is impossible to win, it all has to do with the cards drawn into your hand. Many times, when playing the original card game, I have been stuck with no "Go" card the entire game. Luck (or unluck) or the draw. Overall, not bad.

Childhood!

I used to play with my mom, dad, brother and sister. I remember being soooo pumped when I would get a safety card!! I remember once I took the deck and played by myself!!! Well now I can play by myself against computer players. So fun! I got flash backs when I went forever without a green light card!! It is def frustrating when the deck doesnt go your way. When you play with physical cards you can just blame your mom or whoever shuffled it; so of course with the apps we can only blame the developers when we get a bad shuffle :-p Great app...love the animations and love how the cards still look the same! I gifted the app to my sister and will def recommend this app to everyone!!

Game rigged if favor of the AI

Its clear to me that the game is rigged in favor of the AI. Glad I only paid for the less expensive version of the game!

Application continuously fails to load on an iPhone 3G (NOT 3GS) with iOS 4.2.1

This application has only loaded maybe once and that was after attempting to open it probably 5+ times. Folks if you have an updated 3G STAY AWAY, your phone wont load this app.

Not quite faithful

Decent rendition of Mille Bornes, but not totally faithful to the real game. Cards are recycled instead of once through the deck and scoring is very simplified.

Great game, with some flaws.

Good: Play is great. Not exactly as the card game but close enough. And any reviews claiming the game is unbeatable should be ignored. Ive played several 5000 miles marathons and while ive lost some 1000 mile "legs" Ive only lost overall once, and I play expert. Im not sure what their strategy is, but clearly its not working. They should stick with Uno or go fish perhaps. Bad: Game does freeze, and even takes several app openings to start at times which is definitely irritating as hell. And there is virtually no tech support for the product. Overall I like it and play daily. I think its a .99 game in its current form though (I got it at that price), but for $2.99 the freezing bug needs to be solved in an update. No doubt.

Great game

You need to fix the AI or card reshuffling. I should never go 25 turns without a go card popping up. Its like the deck is never shuffled.

Great game

This game is a lot of fun. I play it often. I played the game as a kid & it is nice to have it again. I win better than 50% of the time so I dont know why another reviewer says he cant win. It does have some bugs that do need to be cleared up. Im am looking forward to the update but see no need to keep from having fun playing while I wait. Bottom line: buy it, you will like it. Cheers

Love the graphics, wish it followed the original rules

Nice graphics, good user interface, although a little cluttered on the iPhone. Definitely better on the iPad. I love the fact it uses the cards from the original 1960s version. I think its funny that the drivers are always looking at you (or watching the camera, depending on how you look at it). I really dislike the fact that it recycles the deck -- a big part of figuring out what cards to discard is knowing what hazards are no longer available. It also makes each hand take much longer. If both sides are stuck, Id rather have the cards run out and go to a new hand. I wish the extension from 700 to 1000 KM were optional Safe trip should only be awarded if you complete the trip. The in-trip music is super annoying, but thankfully can be turned off.

Flawless!

This game is exactly what I remember as a kid! We had the 1971 Parker Bros version. The cards and game play in this app are just as I remembered. I am thoroughly addicted! Love this game! For those who say that the game is rigged in favor of the house, I say NONSENSE! I win well over 50% of the time in medium level. Enjoy!

Great Game and App

I love this game and app. Its so much fun and addictive. Loved the game as a kid too. This app is a good example of doing it right. The graphics are adorable and are not too distracting as is the case with many others. I love Monopoly too but there is way too much popping clutter in the app. Life is another example of a road traveling app but it was done so badly that I deleted it. Refreshing to find this app as I love the way its done. I only have one small complaint and Im being really picky here. There are too many screens of tallying point at the end of each game. I wish they could sum it up in 1 or 2 screens. Do yourself a favor and buy this app. Lots of fun even without a connection.

Multiplayer across devices broken

Cant play in multiplayer mode across multiple devices. Just gets stuck in waiting mode. No tech support. Waste of money.
